you don't need a saddle bag support for the left side of the bike, the bag will rest on the belt guard and not interfer with anything. as for the right side you should have some kind of support to keep the bag off the tire. I didn't want to pay the big bucks for mine so I made one myself it wasn't very difficult. As far as the requlator goes, alot of people say if you install your bags under the rear seat and cover the regulator that it will overheat and fail. I put my bags under the seat and they cover half of the requlator. I have been riding like that for 2 years and 7000 miles and havn't had a problem with the regulator. I don't think it really gets that hot. But if your concerned about it you could cut the leather out around the requlator or put your bags over the rear seat.
